Court In Denmark Upholds Two Lipitor Patents, Prevents Launch Of Ranbaxy Generic Product Before November 2011

�Pfizer Inc said that the Eastern Division of the High Court in Copenhagen, Denmark has ruled in the company's favour in challenges to two of its patents covering atorvastatin, the active factor in Lipitor. The basic (DK 171,588) and enantiomer (EP 409,281) patents were challenged by generics manufacturer Ranbaxy.


The court ruled that the basic patent, which expires in November 2011, would be infringed by Ranbaxy's generic atorvastatin product. The court as well ruled that the atovastatin enantiomer patent is valid. That patent expires in July 2010. The conclusion, which is subject to possible appeal, prevents Ranbaxy from entry its generic product in front November 2011.


"Today's conclusion is an important result for Pfizer and other medical innovators who endue in bad research to develop lifesaving medicines for millions of patients," aforesaid Pfizer Denmark Country Manager Karin Verland.

Joss sings to Obama's tune

British crooner JOSS Stone has been asked to record a song for US democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama because of her appeal to both black and white voters.


Joss Stone is recording a song for US democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The�Fell in Love With A Boy singer was reportedly asked to lend her voice to the song - which will be used as a theme to Obama's election campaign later this year - because she will appeal to voters of all races.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Joss is a big supporter of Barack Obama and was very excited to be asked to do this for him. He sent her a personal message asking her to get on board.

"He has always admired her music and thinks she is the perfect choice because of her unique appeal to black and white voters.

"She believes he is going to be the first black American president and she is honoured to be part of that."

R'n'B star Alicia Keys and rapper Jay-Z have also pledged their support to Obama, with both dedicating songs to him.

However, the politician blasted a controversial song recorded by rapper Ludacris last week.

In the track Politics as Usual, Ludacris called Hillary Clinton - who competed with Obama to become the democratic candidate - a "b***h" and said republican candidate John McCain did not belong "in any chair unless he's paralysed".

The victor of the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest, where she delineated her mother country, Ireland, vocalist Dana was natural Rosemary Brown in Islington, London, on August 30, 1951. Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego to direct 'Solo'

Making his English-language directorial debut





NEW YORK -- Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego will make his English-language directorial debut with the Gold Circle Films/Safran thriller "Solo."


Details are being kept under wraps for "Solo," which is based on a spec script from writer David Coggeshall. The film is said to be a "Misery"-style thriller for the teen set, with elements of "Lord of the Flies" and "Blue Lagoon."


Gold Circle's Paul Brooks and Safran's Peter Safran are producing and plan to begin principal photography within the next few months. Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt are exec producing. Gold Circle is financing, with Guy Danella overseeing production for the outfit.


Lopez-Gallego made a splash in September at the Toronto International Film Festival when the Weinstein Co. picked up his Spanish survival thriller "King of the Hill."


Lopez-Gallego is repped by Paradigm.


Coggeshall is repped by ICM and Circle of Confusion.

P Diddy lays on Croquet at party

P DiddyP Diddy went from bad boy to posh boy at the party he threw to celebrate his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — by laying on a round of Croquet for guests to enjoy.


The rapper, real name Sean Combs, held the extravagant bash at entrepreneur pal Ron Burkle’s 100-acre mansion in Hollywood Hills. Guests at the party included David and Victoria Beckham, Pharrell Williams, Eva Longoria, Paris Hilton, and her sister Nicky, Mel B and Jamie Foxx.


A party insider said: “It was fabulous. Paris and Nicky Hilton were playing Croquet on the massive lawn with the likes of musician Randy Jackson and Ben Stiller. You’d never imagine such a posh game at a hip-hop star’s party. It was hilarious.”
